From Residential Schools to Reconciliation: A Student Art & Writing Celebration
May 24, 2016 - 11:00 AM-24:30 PM (Eastern)
As part of Alberta’s Project of Heart, students from across the province are invited to share their writings and artwork that depict their understanding of the people of Alberta’s journey towards reconciliation. The celebration is open to grades 1 to 12. Participants may submit works of art (Artwork Submission Guidelines), poetry, film, video or writings for this celebration. On May 24th, students will be connecting globally through video conference technology for a LIVE conversation on how we can continue our journey towards reconciliation. All artwork will be exhibited on the TakingITGlobal Global Gallery, http://www.tigweb.org/youth-media/gallery. The top art pieces from each category (K-2, 3-6, 7-9, & 10-12) will be added to Alberta’s Project of Heart e-book, as well as being especially featured on the TakingITGlobal Global Gallery. Student artwork and essays can be submitted up until May 30, 2016. Guiding Questions: How can you foster positive relationships to create a safe and caring school community? What does reconciliation look like in your school community? How can you contribute to reconciliation in your school community? What does Reconciliation mean to you?
